I have a four year old boy, so you would think that I’d have all sorts of stains to remove from little boy clothes. Some, yes, but wouldn’t you know it…it’s my clothes with all the stains. I have a favorite summer shirt – a lightweight knit more delicate than a t-shirt and I managed to get chocolate dribbles all the way down. Additionally, I have a great pair of jeans with grass stains and mud on the knee (from playing baseball with my son) – so I was in the market for finding a good solution to stains.
I decided to try Grandma’s Secret Spot Remover. Besides having a great name, the directions were easy and it is non-toxic, biodegradable and environmentally friendly. The label indicates it is safe for most fabrics and will remove “oil, grease, paint, make-up, grass, clay, inks, blood, baby formula, tar, spaghetti sauce, coffee, rust, betadine, tumeric, fabric bleed, pet stains…most any kind of stain.”
Simple directions included, of course, checking fabric for colorfastness. When you are good to go, just add a small amount of Grandma’s Secret Spot Remover directly to the stain and thoroughly work it in to penetrate the stain. Wait 5 to 10 minutes and wash garment as usual by hand or machine wash. If you are doing an on the spot treatment before washing, let it sit and then rinse it out until you can wash it.
I followed these directions for each item. The liquid is thicker like laundry detergent and the top of the bottle has a small dispensing tip so it is easy to apply drop by drop directly where you need it, without it going all over the garment. I rubbed it in, waited 10 minutes and threw each item into the washing machine as usual. Each item came out completely clean with no stains!
I would recommend Grandma’s Secret Spot Remover because it is easy to use, there are no bad chemical fumes and the small bottle make it easy to take it with you for small emergencies that happen. It’s a good on the go solution too because it works on such a wide variety of stains as well.
